During a joint briefing with the President of the United Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized MPs who are on international business trips. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Radio Liberty.
When asked by a journalist whether he would involve parliamentarians in preparing for possible negotiations to end the war, the president said he would like MPs to “be at work.”
“It is important for us to hear the voice of each branch of power, but I would like these branches of power to be at work. I mean, in order to hear someone’s voice, you need to have someone to communicate with. I am constantly, you know, seen as a kind of person who does not allow our parliamentarians to live in a constant business trip. Today we are having a prayer breakfast in the United States. This is, of course, very important when half of the parliament is at a prayer breakfast, not in Kherson, not in Kharkiv, not in Zaporizhzhia, not in Sumy,” Zelensky said.
The President criticized MPs who go on “constant business trips” instead of working for their constituents.
“I’m not talking about all MPs, but we have what we have. I think it is very important. Therefore, of course, the President of Ukraine will consult with the Parliament of Ukraine when they are at work,” he said.
At the same time, Zelensky noted that he was “very pleased” with the work of the parliament, “but, unfortunately, the parliament does not work every day.”
The National Prayer Breakfast is taking place in Washington on February 6. on February 7, the Ukrainian Prayer Breakfast will be held in the US capital. on February 3-8, the Ukrainian Week is being held in the United States. MPs, including representatives of the pro-presidential Servant of the People faction, have traveled to Washington.
