On the morning of 23 August, Kyiv celebrated National Flag Day. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the events and congratulated the citizens of our country on the holiday, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The ceremony was attended by many officials, including the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, and Director of Security and Defence Programmes at the Ukrainian Institute for the Future Oleksiy Reznikov.

In his speech, the President addressed all those who work for the state, defend it and feel it as their home. Zelenskyy noted that today, as for many years, we are united by the blue and yellow flag.

“We live in a defining time for Ukraine. We are defending our independence and will defend it. We are pushing the occupier out of Ukraine and will not let his tricolours rest. And we have to rebuild Ukraine, our home, after this war, so that our Ukrainian blue and yellow flags fly as Ukraine deserves – over a proud land and in the midst of a safe, free and European life. Glory to all those who are fighting and working for Ukraine. Eternal gratitude to all the heroes of different times who fought for Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

Today, 23 August, is the National Flag Day of Ukraine. This holiday emphasises the importance of one of the three national symbols of Ukraine, the blue and yellow flag, as well as its thorny historical path.
