Zelenskiy says he may resign “in exchange for NATO”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he is ready to resign if Ukraine is accepted into NATO and the war ends. Zelenskyy said this in an interview with British journalists after the summit of European leaders in London, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“As for leaving office, it will not be easy to change me. I mean, it’s not enough to just hold elections, you also have to prevent me from leaving. It’s a little more complicated. It will turn out that you have to negotiate with me. And I said that I am changing to NATO, so I have fulfilled my task… If there is NATO and the war is over, then I have fulfilled my mission,” Zelensky said, answering a question from a media representative.

Zelenskyy also criticized the interference of foreign officials in Ukraine’s domestic political processes, emphasizing that only Ukrainian citizens should decide on the choice of the president.

“It looks like people are telling Ukrainians what kind of president they should have. Especially if these people hold official positions. To be honest, it looks unconstructive and undemocratic. Maybe this is a way out for everyone – for Putin and for everyone – if I am not as flexible as they say. Well, yes, I’m changing to NATO, to be honest,” the president summarized.

As a reminder, we previously reported that Zelenskyy would not apologize to Trump.
