President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a new sanctions decision targeting individuals who justify Russian aggression and are used by the Kremlin for propaganda purposes.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Zelensky’s statement.

According to him, further sanctions have also been agreed upon and will be announced in the near future. The head of state stressed that pressure on Russia must be maintained and that Ukraine will continue to work on synchronizing sanctions decisions with its partners.

“Pressure on Russia must be maintained, and we will continue to work on synchronizing sanctions, not only the decisions of partners in our jurisdiction, but also Ukrainian sanctions decisions in the lists of partners. Already, a significant part of the personal sanctions of partners, as well as the lists against legal entities, are proposals from Ukraine,” he said.

Ukraine’s sanctions against Russia

In December 2025, Ukraine imposed sanctions on nearly 700 tankers of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet,” which are used to transport sanctioned oil in circumvention of international restrictions.

Earlier, in September, Kyiv imposed personal sanctions against individuals and companies involved in supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex, its shadow fleet, and energy sector.

In addition, Ukraine coordinated sanctions with Canada: 139 individuals and legal entities involved in supporting the Russian military machine were subject to restrictions. Among them are relatives of Vladimir Putin.

At the end of December, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the preparation of several new packages of sanctions against Russian citizens and their partners for supporting the war against Ukraine.

And on January 4, 2026, the head of state signed a decree enacting the NSDC’s decision to impose sanctions against 95 individuals and 70 legal entities, most of whom are citizens and residents of Russia.
