It is necessary to achieve a lasting peace that excludes the resumption of hostilities. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram channel after consultations with Donald Trump and EU leaders, adding that he had further adjusted his positions on key settlement issues with European partners, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The head of state prioritized an immediate ceasefire on the ground and in the air, the release of prisoners of war and civilians. Zelenskyy warned that if Russia evades the trilateral talks with Ukraine, the alternative would be to increase sanctions. He emphasized that territorial issues cannot be resolved without Kyiv, and that restrictive measures remain an effective security tool.
A similar statement was made by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He noted that London will impose additional sanctions against Russia if the negotiations on Ukraine fail. According to him, the existing sanctions “have already had an impact” on the Russian economy, and support for Ukraine will continue “as long as necessary.”
