President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met with the Servant of the People faction for the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. This was announced by the leader of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, on Telegram, according to

Arakhamia noted that this meeting was scheduled for the end of last year, but the president’s schedule allowed it to take place only now.

“We understand that it has attracted a lot of media attention, as it is the first meeting in a broad format since the start of the full-scale invasion. But I want to refute all conspiracy theories in advance. It was planned at the end of last year, but the president’s schedule allowed it to take place only now,”

– he said.

According to him, during the meeting, the president and members of the faction discussed “the most important things for victory”, in particular:

  • “the frontline,
  • the economy,
  • help from partners,
  • preservation of unity in society,
  • tasks for the parliament and MPs in these areas.

“There is a lot of work to be done. But since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Parliament has shown its ability to cope with the most difficult tasks. We will keep this pace until we win,”

– arakhamia added.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption confirmed that in January this year it transferred UAH 122.5 million to the Servant of the People political party to finance its statutory activities.

In January this year, the NACP press service also reported that the Servant of the People returned almost UAH 49 million of unused budget funds for 2022 to the state budget. This happened after the law renewed financial reporting obligations for Ukrainian political parties in December last year.

“The Servant of the People is the winning party in the 2019 parliamentary elections, which saw it win 254 seats out of 450 and thus gain the ability to single-handedly make most parliamentary decisions. Currently, the Servant of the People faction officially has 235 MPs, but in practice, the party does not have the 226 votes needed to pass laws and other acts.
