The Russian occupation army shows no signs of being ready to end the war against Ukraine. On the contrary, its movements indicate preparations for new offensive actions. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who emphasized the need to preserve world unity and increase pressure on the aggressor, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“We see that the Russian army is not preparing for the outbreak of war. On the contrary, they are engaged in such movements that indicate the preparation of new offensive operations. In such circumstances, it is important that the unity of the world is not threatened,” Zelenskyy said.
The President thanked the leaders of Europe for their clear support for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity, as well as for their active diplomatic position, which can help end the war in a decent peace. He also noted that Ukraine and its allies support the determination of U.S. President Donald Trump and jointly formulate positions that will not allow Russia to deceive the world.
“I am grateful to the leaders of Europe for their clear support of our independence, territorial integrity and this active approach to diplomacy that can help end this war in a decent peace. Indeed, we all support President Trump’s determination and must work together to formulate positions that will not allow Russia to deceive the world once again,” the head of state said.
According to Zelenskyy, any security decisions should strengthen the joint defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe. The aggressor who refuses to stop the killings must be held accountable.
“Issues related to the security of Ukraine and Europe are discussed by all of us together. Any decision should add to our common security capabilities. And Russia must be held accountable for refusing to stop the killings. As long as they continue their war and occupation, we must all continue our pressure – the pressure of force, the pressure of sanctions, the pressure of diplomacy. Thank you to everyone who is together! Peace through strength,” the president emphasized.

What is known about the meeting between Putin and Trump
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled for August 15, 2025, and will take place in the US northwestern state of Alaska.
The exact city of the summit has not yet been officially confirmed, but it is likely to be the state’s largest city, Anchorage, or the capital, Juneau. At the same time, the NYT writes that the US Secret Service has booked a six-room house in Anchorage, where Trump and Putin are likely to meet.
Diplomatic consultations between Ukraine and the United States on the eve of the summit are virtually around the clock. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that Ukraine and Russia would have to exchange some territories after Kyiv receives security guarantees.
Later, it became known that European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would have a phone conversation with Trump before his meeting with Russian dictator Putin.
This meeting will be Putin’s first face-to-face meeting with the US president since 2021, when he met with Joe Biden in Geneva, Switzerland.
Donald Trump, as the leader of the White House, and Vladimir Putin last held face-to-face talks in 2018 in Helsinki, Finland, and in 2019 they met at the G20 summit in Japan, but in the format of delegations.
Already in his second term, since the beginning of 2025, Trump has spoken to Putin at least three times by phone.
