Ruslan Kravchenko, who is currently the head of the Kyiv State Administration, will become the new Prosecutor General of Ukraine instead of Andriy Kostin. This was reported by NV, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The media outlet cites its own sources in the President’s Office and the Ukrainian parliament.

Thus, a source in the Office of the President claims that Kravchenko is exactly the “compromise figure that can be passed through parliament”.

Another source said that Kravchenko’s candidacy had been considered for a long time, as the candidacy of the current head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, would not get enough votes in parliament.

What is known about Ruslan Kravchenko

Ruslan Kravchenko was born in 1990 in the city of Siverskodonetsk, Luhansk region.

In 2007, he graduated from the Ivan Bohun Military Lyceum in Kyiv. In 2012, he graduated from Yaroslav the Wise Law Academy with a degree in law and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant of Justice.

From 2012 to 2014, he worked as a supervisory investigator at the Sevastopol Prosecutor’s Office.

In 2014-2015, he took part in the anti-terrorist operation under contract, was a prosecutor of the 33rd Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region of Ukraine (in Debaltseve and Bakhmut). He has the status of a combatant and was discharged from military service in 2020.

From 2015 to 2017, he worked as a prosecutor in the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine. He was a prosecutor in the case where fugitive Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was found guilty of high treason and aiding and abetting war.

From 2019 to 2020, he was the Deputy Military Prosecutor of the Central Region of Ukraine.

From 2020 to 2021, he worked as the Head of the Department for Criminal Proceedings on Crimes in the Defence Industry of the Specialised Prosecutor’s Office in the Military and Defence Sphere of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

From 2021 to 2023, he held the position of Head of the Bucha District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv Region.

In 2023, he took part in the competition for the position of the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

In April 2023, Kravchenko was appointed by decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the post of head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

Ruslan Kravchenko is married to Olena Shkrobanets, who previously worked in the Prosecutor General’s Office. She was the head of the translation department of the Legal Assistance and Extradition Division of the Department of International Legal Cooperation.

Shkrobanets is currently an administrative project specialist at the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine.
