Rules for staying on the street for Ukrainian men are changing: what you need to know

16 July 2024 21:00

Starting from 17 July, the rules for being on the street will change for Ukrainians liable for military service – men aged 18 to 60. The reason is that 16 July is the last day for updating military records, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

From now on, men subject to mobilisation will need to have a military ID card with them in order to move around the city. Employees of the TCC and police will have the right to check it.

The military ID card can be either in paper or electronic form, generated in the “Reserve” application. However, if the ticket has an overdue medical examination (now it must be re-examined once a year), military commissars can issue a summons for a military qualification examination right on the street.

If there is no ticket, this is a violation of the law, and a fine may be issued. Also, if the patrol has the resources, the offender can be taken to the MCC.

At the same time, only the police have the right to detain a person – in particular, if he or she is a member of “alert groups” (consolidated units consisting of representatives of the MCC and the National Police). Without the police, military commissariats have no right to detain.

Since 17 July, police have also been able to check on the street for all the necessary military records – military ID cards and data updates. And to check the documents presented to them with the data in the registers.
