NSDC composition changed: who was expelled from the agency

Today, on 13 September, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a decree to change the composition of the National Security and Defence Council. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to the relevant document.

The NSDC now includes the newly elected Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna.

At the same time, Oleksandr Kamyshyn and Dmytro Kuleba were removed from the NSDC.

On 5 September, it was reported that Andriy Sybiga became the new head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He started his career as an attaché. Then he headed departments and divisions. From 2016 to 2021, Sibiga served as Ukraine’s ambassador to Turkey.

In May 2021, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. In the Office, Sibiga was in charge of foreign policy and strategic partnership development.

In April 2024, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs by the government.

Herman Smetanin became Minister for Strategic Industries. Before that, he was the head of Ukroboronprom.
