A 5-storey building destroyed, some dead: the terrible consequences of Russia’s attack on Kyiv

On the night of August 28, 2025, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Kyiv. There were reports of drone and missile debris hitting residential and non-residential buildings, fires in several districts of the capital, infrastructure damage, and, unfortunately, the death of a civilian. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, emergency services are working in Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts.
What is known at the moment
Darnytskyi district: significant damage to a five-story building – all floors from the first to the fifth have been destroyed. Private houses have also been damaged, and firefighters are extinguishing a fire in a non-residential building.

Dniprovsky district: debris fell on a three-story office building, damaged a 25-story building, and a fire broke out in a parking lot where cars caught fire. There are victims.

Shevchenkivskyi district: fires were reported in a residential building, an educational institution and several office buildings were damaged.
Solomyansky district: a fire in a private house.
According to the official information of the KCMA, as of 5:00 am, three people were killed and 9 were injured. Among the dead is a child.

Authorities’ warning
The danger of repeated attacks remains. The city authorities urge Kyiv residents to stay in shelters until the air raid warning is lifted and to follow safety rules.
