Ukrainian Armed Forces advance in Kursk region: 74 settlements under Ukrainian control

As of 13 August, Ukraine controls 74 settlements in the Kursk region of Russia. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The President said that he was in constant contact with Syrsky regarding the military operation in the Kursk region of Russia.
“Despite the difficult, intense fighting, the advance of our forces in Kursk region continues, the exchange fund for our state is replenished. Ukraine has 74 settlements under its control. Inspections and stabilisation measures are being carried out there. We continue to develop humanitarian solutions for these territories,” Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State also released a report with Syrskyi, who noted that as of today, 13 August, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had advanced by 1-3 km.
“Over the course of today, our troops have advanced in some areas by one to three kilometres. We have taken control of 40 square kilometres of territory. Fighting is ongoing along the entire frontline,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief stressed.
What is happening in the Kursk region
on 6 August, the Russians announced a “breakthrough” of the border from Ukraine in the Kursk region.
Fighting has been going on for seven days in the border areas of the Kursk region. Russia has now introduced a counter-terrorism operation in three regions bordering Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the information about the invasion of the region. However, the General Staff of Ukraine has not yet commented on the situation.
According to media reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced 30 km into the region. Journalists also report a constant stream of armoured personnel carriers and tanks moving towards Russia.
