Ukraine is ready to negotiate a bilateral or trilateral meeting. However, they cannot take place on the territory of Russia.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing ABC News.

On Friday, the Ukrainian president spoke with ABC News chief international affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz.

When asked whether the possibility of a bilateral meeting with the Russian side had been lost, the head of state replied that negotiations remained possible.

He clarified that he is ready for any meeting – bilateral or trilateral – but not on the territory of Russia.

“This was a signal from the president and from President Trump, and I said: “Mr. President, I am ready for any meeting, but not in Russia. Any meeting, bilateral, trilateral, we will be glad if you are there, and even the preliminary conditions that we had at the beginning of the year, about a ceasefire and then a meeting. Then we talked about security guarantees, and then about the meeting,” Zelenskyy said.

The President also thanked the United States for confirming its readiness to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. According to him, this issue remains key in the context of future negotiations.

President Zelenskyy’s meeting with Putin

It is worth noting that preparations for a meeting between the President of Ukraine and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin are not progressing.

After U.S. President Donald Trump announced a possible bilateral meeting, Russia denied that Putin had promised to meet with the Ukrainian president, and Trump himself said that the leaders were not yet ready for talks.

However, on September 3, Putin said that he did not rule out a meeting, but that Zelenskyy would have to come to Moscow.
