$1 billion a month – how much the war against Russia costs Ukraine

Ukraine needs at least $1 billion in monthly financial support from its partners to continue to effectively counter Russian aggression. These funds are used to purchase American weapons and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Kyiv, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“We discussed our defense needs. The situation at the front, on the battlefield, the capabilities of our soldiers, key threats, and cooperation programs for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. Norway has joined the PURL program, which allows us to buy weapons from the United States and fill this program with at least a billion dollars a month,” the President noted.
The Head of State has also emphasized the importance of Norway’s participation in the PURL program aimed at purchasing American weapons for Ukraine. According to him, this program will help strengthen air defense and maritime security.
In addition, the president announced the active development of Ukrainian drone production and the expansion of cooperation with international partners in this area.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the financial and technological support of the allies not only provides Ukraine with the necessary resources, but also puts additional pressure on Russia, accelerating the path to ending the war.
