Ten newly appointed judges took the oath of office in the presence of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Nine of them are judges of local general courts and one is a judge of a local commercial court. This was reported on the website of the head of state, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The geography of the appointments covers almost all regions of the country: one representative from Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy regions and two judges from Lviv region.

“A lot depends on the decisions of everyone in the country now. Especially from those who work for justice. Ukrainian judges should work for justice,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized in his speech.

What does the oath mean?

Taking the oath is a necessary legal step in the procedure of becoming a judge.

Only after this ceremony, as well as after being enrolled in the staff of the relevant court and undergoing initial training, a judge has the right to administer justice and make decisions and sentences on behalf of Ukraine.
