International Day of the Girl Child

At the initiative of the United Nations, the world celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child today.

The day was proclaimed at the 66th UN General Assembly on 19 December 2011, and it began to be celebrated the following year, in 2012. Canada initiated the adoption of the relevant UN resolution.

The purpose of this Day is quite serious – to draw the world’s attention to the social problems and inequalities faced by girls around the world, directly related to their being female.

Each year, the UN chooses a theme for the International Day of the Girl Child to draw attention to specific issues and challenges faced by girls. The theme for 2024 is “Girls’ Vision for the Future”.

International Day of the Veterinary Nurse

International Veterinary Nurses Day is celebrated on the second Friday of October.

The profession of a veterinary nurse is difficult and responsible. It is important to create conditions for animals to feel comfortable. Therefore, the nurse’s contribution to the health of patients is no less important than that of the veterinarian.

International Day of the Camper

on 11 October, many countries around the world celebrate Coming Out Day, which aims to inform and support members of the LGBT community if they wish to come out.

Coming out is an open and voluntary acknowledgement of one’s sexual orientation or gender identity, which differs from the normative one, to family, friends, colleagues, and colleagues. This day was first celebrated in the United States in 1988. The initiators of its introduction were Robert Eichberg, a psychologist, founder of the Experience personal development training, who passed away in 1995 due to AIDS, and Jean O’Leary, an openly lesbian activist and political leader.

What is the church holiday today?

11 October is the day of remembrance of the Holy Apostle Philip in the church calendar. He was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ.
