28 July 19:39

Most Ukrainians want to earn more than 30 thousand hryvnias, seek flexibility in the format of work, and expect more changes from the state. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted on the OLX Job platform on the expectations of Ukrainians from the labor market, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

47.3% of respondents said they have a permanent job. Another 14% work temporarily or as freelancers. At the same time, one-third are actively looking for work, and another 8.8% are not currently working or looking for jobs.

Among the employed, specialists in trade, manufacturing, construction, and logistics predominate. In addition , 4.7% of respondents indicated that they serve in the Defense Forces. 60% of respondents indicated their age – from 31 to 50 years.

The vast majority are considering changing their profession or field of activity:

  • 18.6% are actively considering it;
  • 59.4% are preparing, but have not decided on the field of future activity;
  • only 21.9% of respondents are satisfied with their current job.

The survey among Ukrainians was conducted in July 2025 on the OLX platform among 2,193 job seekers.

What is really important when choosing a job

Salary is in the first place: 72% of participants indicated it. It is followed by:

  • flexible schedule – 32.1%;
  • stability of the company – 29.4%;
  • the ability to work remotely – 15.7%;
  • friendly team/corporate culture – 21%;
  • career prospects – 11.5%.

Flexibility has become the new normal: only 21.7% of respondents are satisfied with full-time work, while 21.3% would prefer a remote format and 31.8% would prefer a flexible schedule. Part-time work is attractive to 19.3% of respondents.

What salary is “fair” for Ukrainians

Most Ukrainians expect a monthly salary of 20 to 50 thousand hryvnias:

  • up to 10 thousand UAH – only 4%;
  • 10-20 thousand UAH – 14.6%;
  • 20-30 thousand UAH – 27%;
  • 30-50 thousand UAH – 33%;
  • over UAH 50 thousand – 21.4%.

Over the past year, salary expectations have increased for 30.4% of respondents. For 46.2%, they remained unchanged, while 23.4% reported a decrease.

Every fifth respondent is ready to move to another city in Ukraine for a better job, while another 33.3% said it depends on the conditions offered. Almost half (47.2%) do not consider this option.

Similar sentiments were expressed regarding the issue of working abroad. The majority (57.1%) do not plan to look for a job in another country in the next 1-2 years. Only 9.1% are actively looking now, and 31.7% are considering this possibility.

Prospects and readiness for adaptation

75% agree that it is much more difficult to find a decent job after the age of 50. Therefore, it is not surprising that 76% of Ukrainians would like to retire by the age of 60, while one third would like to retire by the age of 55.

20% of respondents have taken online professional development courses, and another 9.9% have studied offline. Almost 40% have not improved their skills but plan to do so, and 30.6% have not taken additional training and do not plan to do so.

Their future in the labor market was described as uncertain or uncertain by 59% of participants. Only 8.3% have full confidence in their professional stability.

The majority of Ukrainians (73.6%) believe that the state should create more opportunities for career development

73.6% believe that the state should create more opportunities for career development, and only 5.5% believe that it is the responsibility of each individual.

The survey by OLX Work showed that Ukrainians want fair pay, flexible working conditions, and government support. Most are considering changing their current field of work: some are taking additional training, others are ready to move to another city or even country.

At the same time, the level of anxiety about the future of the labor market remains high. This is an important signal for employers and the government.
