4 September 10:49
In the first six months of 2025, Ukrainians concluded 4.39 million agreements with microfinance organizations, which is 8% more than in the same period last year. This is reported by Opendatabot, citing NBU data, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
In the second quarter alone, 2.18 million microloans were issued. The number of loans issued remained stable, but the average amount increased by 9% to UAH 6,029. Compared to 2024, this figure remained virtually unchanged.

Debts are growing more slowly
Despite the high demand for quick loans, Ukrainians have become more disciplined in their repayments. While in the first quarter the debt increased by UAH 3.38 billion, in the second quarter it grew by only UAH 940 million. The total debt to microfinance companies now stands at UAH 24.29 billion.

At the same time, the total amount of loans disbursed in the first half of the year amounted to UAH 26.44 billion, which is also 8% more than last year. On average, Ukrainians take out about 730 thousand loans every month.
Fewer companies – more loans
Interestingly, the demand for microloans is growing amid a decline in the number of MFIs. At the beginning of July 2025, 303 financial institutions licensed to provide microloans were operating on the market, a quarter less than a year ago. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the number of such companies in Ukraine has more than halved.
