5 Ukrainian startups will receive support from the Open Data Accelerator program

The Open Data Accelerator has identified five winning startups that will implement solutions based on open data and receive more than UAH 5.8 million from the grant program. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
For three months, the program participants have been improving business models, improving the technical components of developments, and creating investment attraction strategies. In the final, 14 teams presented their projects to experts from Ukrainian and international organizations.
The winners of the Open Data Accelerator are:
Demarka is an AI platform for checking the possibility of registering trademarks for startups and small and medium-sized businesses around the world. It analyzes similar trademarks, checks compliance with legal conditions, and provides recommendations to increase the chances of registration.
Strum is a career guidance platform for teenagers and young adults that helps them choose the most effective path for professional self-realization. The solution allows them to understand the real opportunities of the Ukrainian labor market in the 50 most promising professions, learn more about them, and get acquainted with educational institutions and employers.
Handstree is a comprehensive SaaS solution for non-profit organizations aimed at increasing transparency and strengthening long-term relationships with foreign donors. It allows initiatives to receive regular financial support without advertising costs, and philanthropists to make secure direct donations and monitor how their funds are used.
CrimeDataLab is a platform that integrates open data and provides user-friendly analytical tools to increase transparency and efficiency in the fight against crime. The technical solution transforms datasets into understandable visualizations and has an artificial intelligence assistant.
Sympto.me is a mobile application that provides patient support before and after a visit to a medical facility through AI assistants. The project helps family doctors avoid professional burnout and perform their work more efficiently, and provides patients with round-the-clock support (surveys, explanations, recommendations) on physical and mental health.

The startups shared a grant fund of more than UAH 5.8 million to develop their products.
The team of AI-Refine, an AI tool for processing large amounts of data, received mentoring support to continue further development of their project.

What we know about the Open Data Accelerator program
The goal of the program is to help Ukrainian technology projects based on open data implement solutions, develop and scale.
The Open Data Accelerator is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Digital Transformation Support Project, funded by USAID and UK Dev. The project partners are the Eastern Europe Foundation and SocialBoost.
Criteria for startups to participate in the program:
– innovation of the idea and product,
– potential impact,
– project quality and stage of development,
– use of open data,
– sustainability and independence from grant funding.
Applicants can receive up to five points for each criterion. Accordingly, the program will select the startups that take the highest places in the ranking among all candidates.
