The government has approved the procedure for allocating a 700 million hryvnia subsidy to create modern educational spaces. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“The funds are earmarked for technology, multimedia equipment, and furniture for biology, geography, mathematics, physics, and chemistry classrooms, as well as STEM laboratories,” Svyrydenko explained.

According to her, renovation work must be funded by local budgets or with the support of partners. This is part of the reform of specialized upper secondary schools—the third stage of the New Ukrainian School (NUS) initiative. Municipal schools will be eligible for the grant if they:

  • will join the specialized upper secondary school network in 2027 or are specialized lyceums
  • conduct in-person or blended learning
  • have at least 60 students in 8th grade
  • provide at least 10% co-financing from the local budget.

“As part of the implementation of the New Ukrainian School, we are continuing the systematic renovation of learning spaces in schools. We are changing our approach—from selective upgrades to complete classroom renovations,” Svyrydenko emphasized.

The Prime Minister also announced that projects will be selected on a competitive basis. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine will announce the terms and the start of the application period.
