710,000 consumers without electricity: how Kyiv will overcome the energy crisis
27 January 22:49
Approximately 710,000 consumers in Kyiv remain without electricity. This was announced by Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, commenting on the current situation with energy supply in the capital, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, the key task for energy companies in the near future is to return to predictable and understandable electricity supply schedules.
“There are currently 710,000 consumers without electricity in Kyiv. We understand that living in uncertainty without clear schedules is exhausting. The immediate task for specialists is to return to predictable schedules,” Shmyhal wrote.
The headquarters is working around the clock
The minister assured that the state has provided all the necessary assistance, and the relevant headquarters is working around the clock, maintaining constant contact with energy companies and the Kyiv authorities.
According to him, coordination of actions is ongoing.
Why schedules may vary
Shmyhal stressed that the power system has been damaged unevenly, so in the first weeks of restoration, the power outage schedules may vary depending on the area. This is due to the capacity of the networks and the condition of individual power nodes.
“During the first weeks of restoration, the schedules in different power nodes may vary,” the minister explained.
Cogeneration and new lines — systemic solutions
At the same time, the government is working on long-term systemic solutions. Key areas include:
- development of cogeneration;
- simplification of network connections;
- construction of new power lines;
- completion of verification of cogeneration facilities in the capital.
The priority remains the stable operation of these plants and the maximum supply of electricity to the grid, which will partially cover consumer needs and strengthen Kyiv’s energy security.
