In Ukraine, local communities will connect 75 existing cogeneration plants to the grid, with a total electrical capacity of nearly 100 MW and a thermal capacity of 107 MW. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to her, the Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 726.8 million hryvnia for this purpose as part of the implementation of the Regional Sustainability Plans.
“These funds will be used to connect cogeneration plants that the regions had previously secured, particularly with the support of international partners. They are intended to ensure the stable operation of critical infrastructure facilities,” the prime minister noted.
She reported that of this amount, 307.7 million hryvnias will be allocated for installation and connection in the following regions:
- Kharkiv Oblast — 20 units;
- Chernihiv Oblast — 20 units;
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast — 19 units;
- Lviv Oblast — 7 units;
- Donetsk Oblast — 4 units;
- Vinnytsia Oblast — 3 units;
- Sumy Oblast — 1 unit;
- Ternopil Oblast — 1 unit.
An additional 419.1 million UAH will be allocated for modular boiler houses. The allocated funds will also enable the completion of work on the decentralization of heat supply in Mykolaiv.
“The key task for regional state administrations and communities is to commission this equipment by October 1. This involves developing project documentation, completing construction and installation work, preparing sites, and ensuring connection to the networks,” Sviridenko emphasized.
Preparations for winter are based on priority tasks: protecting energy facilities; developing distributed generation; ensuring uninterrupted heat and water supply; and decentralizing heating systems in the country’s major cities.
As a reminder, at the end of March, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated 9.2 billion hryvnias to protect 245 critical infrastructure facilities in non-frontline regions as part of preparations for the upcoming heating season. Of the total amount, 3.5 billion hryvnias will go to regions for the construction of protective structures for distribution substations, transformers, and gas distribution stations.
