Ukraine will receive €85 million through EBRD instruments, which will be spent on purchasing additional gas volumes.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a Telegram message from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
“€85 million through EBRD instruments to purchase additional gas for Ukraine. Work on obtaining the relevant grant from one of the European countries is already being completed,” Shmyhal said.
According to him, this was discussed during a conversation with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
“I informed the EBRD about the difficult situation in Ukraine’s energy system due to damage caused by Russian strikes. Repair crews are currently working to restore electricity and heat. Work is ongoing around the clock,” he added.
It is also noted that continued financial support from the EBRD to Ukrainian companies Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo is helping to provide repairs, equipment, and implement new solutions to ensure that people have light and heat.
As a reminder, Ukraine has increased gas imports by almost 20% to meet demand during cold weather and reduce electricity generation.
Currently, import volumes have increased from approximately 26 million cubic meters per day to more than 30 million cubic meters. The increase in supplies came from Slovakia and Poland.
