9-year-old Ukrainian becomes world champion in rapid chess

9-year-old Oleksii Nakonechnyi from Truskavets has become a world champion in rapid chess. This was reported by the Truskavets City Council, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Albania hosted the World Rapid Chess Championship among children under 8, 10 and 12 years old.
on 28 April, the boy completed his fast-paced sports career with the first place at the World Cadet Rapid & Blitz Championships 2024 – Rapid Open 10. He became the winner in rapid chess among participants under 10 with a score of 9 out of 11.

Lukian Huzela, a pupil of the Lviv Chess Academy (coached by Nazar Firman and Bohdan Lozynskyi), became a silver medallist. Lukian competed in the under-8 age group.
