US President Donald Trump’s team has drafted new sanctions that will hit key sectors of the Russian economy and will be imposed if Moscow refuses to end its war in Ukraine.

This was reported by Reuters, citing sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

It is noted that some of the restrictions will affect the banking sector of the Russian Federation, as well as the infrastructure that ensures oil supplies. According to the agency, the new sanctions were initiated by the Ukrainian side – Kyiv demanded that all Russian banks be disconnected from the dollar system.

The source emphasized that the White House is likely to observe the reaction of the Russian authorities to the sanctions already imposed. New sanctions, in turn, will not be imposed in October, he said.

In addition, according to Reuters, the US administration has expressed support for the EU’s idea to use Russia’s frozen assets to buy weapons for Ukraine. In particular, they are discussing the use of Russian assets in the United States.

on October 23, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies. Among others, Lukoil and Rosneft were subject to restrictions.

Commenting on the situation, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the new US restrictions an attempt to put pressure on the Kremlin. He emphasized that Washington’s actions do not contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries.
