3 October 08:18

On the night of October 3, Munich International Airport was partially paralyzed due to reports of drones near the airport. According to Der Spiegel, citing the federal police, about 20 flights were canceled as a result of the incident, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to eyewitnesses, they first noticed the drone near the airport. Later, an unknown UAV was seen directly over the airport. It is not yet known whether it was one or several drones.

The runways were closed for security reasons. Federal and state police units were on the scene, and the area was also inspected from the air using a helicopter, but no suspicious objects were found.

It is noted that 17 flights were canceled, and another 15 were redirected to Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna, and Frankfurt. In total, the incident disrupted travel for nearly 3,000 passengers.

As a result, several thousand people stayed at the airport overnight. Passengers were provided with field beds, blankets, water, and snacks.

According to Reuters, 17 flights were canceled, and another 15 were diverted to Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna, and Frankfurt. In total, the incident disrupted travel for nearly 3,000 passengers.

As a result, several thousand people stayed at the airport overnight. Passengers were provided with field beds, blankets, water, and snacks.

According to federal police, several eyewitnesses spotted drones flying in the vicinity of the local airport.

The publication also recalls that the incident occurred amid a series of incidents with drones in different countries. In late September, unidentified drones were spotted flying over several strategic sites in Schleswig-Holstein, including a power plant, the Kiel University Hospital, and the state government building. The drones were moving in parallel trajectories, presumably for mapping purposes, which gave rise to suspicions of espionage.

German intelligence services are also reportedly tracking a possible connection between the incidents and a Russian cargo ship that entered a Russian port shortly after the drone flights.

Similar incidents have recently been reported in Scandinavia. In Denmark and Norway, airports had to be temporarily closed due to the appearance of drones. They also do not rule out a Russian trace.
