The American Film Academy is headed by a new president – Lynette Havell Taylor

The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which annually presents the Oscars, has elected a new president – producer Lynette Havell Taylor.

This is stated in an official statement on the Academy’s website, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Lynette has been an important part of the Academy’s Board of Governors for many years, and she recently revitalized our awards work as chair of the Awards Committee. I look forward to working with her as the Academy’s new president,” commented AMPAS CEO Bill Kramer.

Who is Lynette Havell Taylor?

Member of the Academy since 2014
Producer of more than 25 films, including:

  • A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga (8 Oscar nominations),
  • The Auditor and The Auditor 2,
  • Captain Fantastic, etc.

New leadership of the Academy (2025-2026):

  • Leslie Barber (Music Division) – Vice President, Chair of the Membership Committee
  • Jennifer Fox (Production Division) – Vice President, Chair of the Awards Committee
  • Simon Kilmerry (Documentary) – Vice President/Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee
  • Lou Diamond Phillips (Acting) – Vice President, Chair of the Equity and Inclusion Committee
  • Howard A. Rodman (Writing Division) – Vice President/Secretary, chairs the Governance Committee

How are the Academy’s governing bodies formed?

According to the AMPAS bylaws, board members can serve no more than two consecutive three-year terms. After that, a break of at least two years is required. In total, up to 12 years in office are allowed in one life cycle.

As a reminder, on July 16, the Ukrainian Oscar Committee began accepting applications from national films for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
