The installation of anti-drone nets over highways has begun in the border areas of Sumy region. This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to him, such structures complicate the work of enemy aerial reconnaissance, reduce the risk of drone strikes and increase the safety of both civilians and military personnel using these roads. The main goal is to preserve logistics routes in a region where fighting continues daily.
“This is an important step towards strengthening security. It is not only about protecting infrastructure but also about saving lives,” emphasized Grigorov.
The situation in the region remains tense
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 29 combat engagements were recorded in the South Slobozhansky sector on June 19 alone. Russian troops carried out 9 air strikes, dropped 19 guided bombs and fired more than 200 artillery rounds, including rocket artillery.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently said that the defense forces had managed to stop Russian attempts to advance in the Sumy sector. At the same time, he said, the enemy continues to keep about 50,000 soldiers in the region, trying to create a so-called “buffer zone.”
DeepState project analysts report that as of June 19, Russia has temporarily occupied more than 211 km² of Sumy region
