The astronauts from “Artemis-2” have returned to Earth

11 April 08:19

The Orion spacecraft, which flew around the Moon as part of NASA’s Artemis 2 mission, successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, on the night of Friday, April 10, following its return to Earth, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

More than three million people watched the landing broadcast on NASA’s YouTube channel. The live stream was also available on other NASA platforms.

Humans have never been this far from Earth

During the lunar mission, a new record was set for the farthest human journey into space in history—the astronauts traveled 407,000 km from Earth, breaking the record set during the Apollo 13 mission in 1970.

The Orion spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Cook, as well as Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, launched from the U.S. East Coast on April 1. Five days later, on the evening of April 6, the Artemis-2 crew completed their lunar observations and began their return to Earth.

Among other things, the mission participants tested new spacesuits capable of providing up to six days of autonomous breathing.
