Ulyanovsk region
In the village of Novospasskoye, the NS-Oil oil refinery was hit by an attack.
After the strike, a large-scale fire broke out at the enterprise.
Why these strikes are important
Oil refineries and petrochemical plants are key to the Russian military machine: they provide fuel and chemical components for the Russian military-industrial complex.
The destruction of such facilities
- reduces the ability of the Russian Federation to supply the army with fuel;
- creates economic losses and pressure on the domestic market;.
- gradually disables the infrastructure that Russia cannot quickly restore due to sanctions.
Russia’s reaction
Russian officials have traditionally claimed that “most of the drones were shot down,” but numerous videos from the scene confirm actual hits.
Russian channels report on the work of emergency services and the evacuation of employees.
