Attack on Nizhyn: “Novaya Posta” depot damaged, part of cargo burnt down

On the evening of October 15, the Russian army launched strikes in Chernihiv Region. One of the affected facilities was the sorting depot and cargo office of Novaya Posta in the town of Nizhyn. This is reported by the press service of the company, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the company, there are no casualties among workers, but some of the cargo that was in the premises at the time of the attack, burned out.
How the company is reacting
Novaya Post reported that:
- parcels that were stored directly in the department survived;
- elimination of the consequences of the fire is ongoing;
- customers whose parcels were destroyed, the company will compensate for losses.
Representatives of the emergency services are working on the site – removing the debris, assessing the damage and reinforcing the building.
This is not the first time that Novaya Posta’s logistics infrastructure has come under fire.
During the full-scale invasion, the company has already lost sorting terminals in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson.
Recently, the strikes on the rear regions have become more frequent again.
Last week, the company warned of possible delivery delays due to an overnight Russian attack on Ukraine’s power grid.
What’s next
Novaya Posta specialists are now:
- assessing the extent of the damage;
- accounting for destroyed cargo;
- preparing temporary routes for redirecting parcels.
The work of the office in Nizhyn will be restored after a security check of the premises.
“Novaya Pochta” – the largest Ukrainian private postal operator, which continues to work even during the war. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the company has not stopped delivery in any region of Ukraine, and its branches operate even near the front line.
According to the company’s data, more than 20 facilities of its infrastructure were damaged due to shelling in 2024 alone.
