Russian attack on Odesa: a warehouse with boilers and heaters burned down

On the night of December 16, Odesa region was again under massive attack by Russian attack drones. As a result of a hit, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of one of the enterprises, engulfing a warehouse with household appliances such as boilers and heaters. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to the head of the OMA, Russian troops used several dozen attack drones to target civilian infrastructure in the region.
“Russia continues to terrorize the civilian population of Odesa region. Last night, the enemy attacked the region with several dozen attack drones,” noted Kiper.
As a result of one of the strikes:
- the territory of an enterprise caught fire;
- the fire engulfed a warehouse of household appliances with boilers and heaters;
- the fire threatened to spread to neighboring facilities.
Rescuers’ work: what was saved
The fire was completely extinguished by the SES units. According to the Regional State Administration, the rescuers also managed to save a nearby logistics company’s warehouse, which helped avoid much greater damage.
The head of the region clarified that:
- “There were no casualties;
- emergency and specialized services continue to work at the scene;
- the consequences of the attack are being recorded.
The Odesa Regional State Administration published photos from the scene of the fire, which show the extent of the destruction.
Why the attack on the warehouse with heaters is significant
Attacks on warehouses with household appliances and heating equipment are clearly terrorist in nature. On the eve of the winter period, such attacks:
- complicate preparation for the cold weather;
- create risks to energy and humanitarian security;
- are aimed at putting pressure on the civilian population.
Russian night attack on December 16
That same night, Russian drones attacked other regions of Ukraine:
- Chernihiv region – a strike on a farm in the Korop community. The fire killed livestock (seven cows, initially) and damaged the barn and agricultural machinery.
- Zaporizhzhia – a Shahed hit a multi-storey building, there are victims.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 69 attack drones on the night of December 16. Air defense forces destroyed or suppressed 57 drones, but 10 hits were recorded at 7 locations.
