Russian attack on Kharkiv: dead in cars, a baby wounded

On December 26, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv and its suburbs, hitting one of the city’s key transportation arteries. The attack resulted in civilian deaths and injuries, including a 9-month-old child.
This was reported by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What is known about the attack
According to Ihor Terekhov, the hit occurred on one of the busiest roads in Kharkiv. As a result of the strike:
- several cars caught fire;
- windows were smashed in the surrounding buildings;
- there were people in the cars that caught fire.
Initially, one person was reported dead and three injured, one of the victims was in serious condition.
Updated information about the victims
As of 16:36, the city and regional authorities have updated the information:
- the death toll hasrisen to two;
- a 9-month-old girl is among the wounded.
The OVA also reported at least two damaged cars.
The work of emergency services
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the site of the hit:
- units of the State Emergency Service;
- emergency medical teams.
Rescuers are eliminating the consequences of the fire and inspecting the area, while medics are providing assistance to the wounded.
