17 October 11:13
Today, on October 17, the Ukrainian power grid is under heavy load. Due to the difficult situation, emergency power outages have been introduced in some regions, and residents and industrial consumers are advised to use electrical appliances sparingly. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo.
Emergency power outages introduced in Kyiv and 12 regions
Regular attacks by Russian drones on energy facilities have led to power outages in several regions. Emergency restoration work began as soon as the security situation allowed.
Power supply restrictions were introduced in the following regions:
- Kyiv and Kyiv region
- Cherkasy
- Zhytomyr
- Kharkiv
- Sumy
- Poltava
- Zaporizhzhya
- Kirovograd
- Dnipropetrovska
- Partially Chernihiv, Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia regions
In the Chernihiv region, at the command of the regional power company, hourly blackouts were introduced in three stages.
For industrial consumers in all regions of Ukraine, power limitation schedules are in effect from 07:00 to 22:00.
Electricity consumption
Electricity consumption remains high. As of 6:30 a.m. on October 17, it was at the level of the previous day.
The daily maximum on October 16 was 3.4% higher than the previous day due to the cold snap and cloudy weather.
The main reason for the high consumption is low temperatures in most regions.
Power engineers are urging to limit the use of powerful appliances and not to turn them on at the same time to avoid overloading the system.
Recommendations for the public
Use electrical appliances wisely, in particular, limit the simultaneous use of powerful appliances.
Follow the messages on the websites and social media of your distribution system operator (oblenergo).
Be prepared for possible changes in outage schedules.
The situation in the power system remains difficult due to shelling and high consumption. Adherence to the rules of economical use of electricity helps to reduce the load and ensure stable operation of the system.
