Banks will tighten restrictions on card-to-card transfers. What Ukrainians should expect
9 December 2024 21:15
Banks are planning to tighten restrictions on card-to-card transfers and are preparing inspections for individual entrepreneurs. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a Forbes article.
According to the publication, seven large banks in Ukraine, including PrivatBank, Monobank and Oschadbank, are preparing to sign a memorandum this week.
After that, when opening an account (including for individual entrepreneurs), the client is assigned one of three risk categories. For low and medium risk, simplified checks without income verification are applied (for income up to UAH 150 thousand).
At the same time, the maximum amount of transfer from one account for them is UAH 150 thousand from January 1, 2025, and UAH 100 thousand from June 1. For “dubious” customers, the limit is UAH 50 thousand. The limits may be reviewed on an individual basis.
In the absence of documented income, i.e., without providing the bank with certificates or declarations, financiers will impose their own restrictions on any money transfers (exceptions will be made for volunteers and salary card holders).
Also, customers will not be able to open more than 3 current accounts in the same currency without officially confirmed income.
In addition, banks plan to create a register of customers with suspicious financial activities.
