Gasoline, electric, or hybrid: March auto market trends

In March, cars with conventional engines accounted for 64% of the new passenger car market. Last year, this figure stood at 58%.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing data from Ukravtoprom.
It is noted that gasoline models were the most popular, accounting for 42% of new car sales, compared to about 37% in March 2025.
Meanwhile, the share of hybrid cars increased from 28% to nearly 32%.
Diesel cars accounted for 22%, compared to 21% last year.
The share of electric vehicles fell from 14% to 4%.
As was the case a year ago, cars with LPG systems accounted for less than 1% of new car sales.

According to analysts, the leaders in each segment were:
- gasoline cars – Hyundai Tucson;
- hybrids – Toyota RAV-4;
- diesel – Renault Duster;
- electric – BYD Leopard 3;
- LPG-powered cars – Hyundai Tucson.
As a reminder, nearly 5,900 new passenger cars were sold in Ukraine in March. Compared to February 2026, demand for new cars increased by 35%.
