Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commenting on calls to recognize Palestinian statehood, said at a weekly meeting of his cabinet that such a move is “dangerous to the existence” of Israel and promised to fight against it, the online edition of The Times of Israel writes, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“I will present the truth at the UN,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying. – “This is the truth of Israel, but it is also the objective truth in our just struggle against the forces of evil, and our vision of a true peace – peace through strength.
“We will also have to fight in the UN and other venues against the false propaganda and calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state directed at us, which would endanger our existence and become an absurd reward for terror,” the Israeli prime minister continued. It is understood that, according to Benjamin Netanyahu, states that recognize Palestinian statehood thereby encourage the Hamas terrorist organization, which attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.
Netanyahu is preparing to meet with Trump
On September 26, the Israeli Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech to the UN General Assembly, after which he will meet with US President Donald Trump. According to Benjamin Netanyahu, during this meeting, he will discuss a “grand bargain” with the American leader.
“After the UN General Assembly, I will meet with my friend, President Trump. This will be the fourth time I’ve met with him since the beginning of his second presidential term, which is more than any other leader in the world. And we will need to discuss a great deal,” The Times of Israel quoted Netanyahu as saying.
