Business Ombudsman: BES is not the main problem for entrepreneurs

During the roundtable discussion “Control without pressure: how to build trust in times of war?”, Business Ombudsman Roman Vashchuk stated that “BES is not the main problem for business”. According to him, this position is supported by data from the Business Ombudsman Council’s annual report. Vashchuk emphasized the importance of a systematic and transparent dialogue between business and the state, which should be accompanied by concrete actions, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The event, organized by the Bureau of Economic Security on the basis of the State Tax University of Ukraine, brought together representatives of leading government agencies and business organizations. Among the participants were delegates from the Business Ombudsman Council, the Ukrainian Bar Association, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine and other specialized organizations.
The discussion was focused on cryptocurrency transactions, tax violations, and problems in business interaction with the government. They also discussed the findings of the latest Kantar Group research and strategies to combat the shadow economy.
Oleksandr Tkachuk, Head of the BES detectives, said that tax evasion schemes cause the largest losses to the state budget. Since the beginning of this year, detectives have served 117 people with a notice of suspicion, and 126 criminal cases have been brought to court.
“UAH 1.4 billion has been voluntarily reimbursed in tax evasion cases that have been submitted to the court with a request for exemption from criminal liability under Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,”
– mr. Tkachuk said.

Acting BES Director Serhiy Perkhun emphasized the agency’s commitment to openness.
“We are ready for a dialog with those who want a professional discussion and real joint steps to fight the shadow economy,”
– perhun said.
The event was also attended by representatives of the State Tax Service, the State Financial Monitoring Service, the State Audit Service, the National Securities and Stock Market Commission, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Cyber Police.
