Borscht ingredients are becoming more expensive: the price of white cabbage has risen in Ukraine

This week, Ukraine saw a trend toward higher prices for white cabbage. According to daily monitoring data from the EastFruit project, by the end of December, many producers had sold most of their stocks of this product. In addition, there is almost no medium- and low-quality cabbage left on the market, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Given the rapid decline in cabbage stocks on farms, farmers began to restrain sales of high-quality products, which led to price increases this week. This information is confirmed by wholesale companies, which note a general reduction in these vegetables on the market.
As of today, the selling prices for white cabbage on farms have already risen to 3-10 UAH/kg ($0.07-0.23/kg), which is on average 25% more expensive than at the end of last week.
It should be noted that today, prices for white cabbage in Ukraine remain on average 82% lower than during the same period last year. At the same time, most market participants do not rule out the possibility of further price increases for this product, and, in their opinion, the pace of price growth will accelerate with the reduction of vegetable stocks in farms.
