Britain is shaken by riots over the murders of children in Southport (photos, video)

Mass riots broke out in Southport, England, where an unknown gunman attacked children during a dance class on Monday, killing three of them and seriously injuring several others. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with citing to Sky News.

The riots near the mosque in Southport began when a large group of people began throwing bottles, bricks and traffic cones towards the mosque. In front of the mosque, a police car was set on fire, and stones, bottles, bricks and smoke bombs flew at the police.

As a result, more than 40 police officers were injured in the riots in Southport, England. A statement to this effect was issued by by the Merseyside Police. According to the available information, eight people were seriously injured, the rest – of varying severity. It is noted that three police dogs were also injured.

What happened in Southport before the riots

The incident on 29 July, during which a knife-wielding offender attacked visitors at the Hope of Hart children’s club, resulted in the deaths of three little girls (aged 6, 7 and 9) and 10 other people being taken to hospital.

The massacre took place during a dance workshop. According to the police, the attacker was a 17-year-old teenager.

At the same time, a number of bloggers and media journalists published information that the suspect in the murder of the young children was a migrant, and that the attack could be a terrorist attack by a radical Islamist. Despite the fact that the police denied this information, the mourning events quickly turned into protests.

The British media reported that the rioters were allegedly members of the far-right group English Defence League.
