It will be just like at Nova Poshta: Ukrposhta is preparing important innovations

Ukrposhta is preparing for the next stage of digitization and service improvement. Soon, customers will be able to use a service that was previously the hallmark of their main private competitor.

The company’s CEO, Igor Smelyansky, spoke about the innovations in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Key points:

  • Parcel management: By the end of February, the app will offer the option to pay for parcels online and manage their delivery.
  • Postmen with computers: By the end of the summer, each employee will receive a “3-in-1” device — a mini-computer with a POS terminal.
  • Card payments everywhere: Now you can pay for services cashless even in the most remote villages.
  • Autonomy: Thenew terminals work for up to 8 hours without power and will be equipped with power banks as a backup.
  • Savings on generators: Thenew system will allow branches to operate during blackouts without spending money on expensive fuel.

Smelyansky stated that by the end of February, the Ukrposhta mobile app may already offer the option to pay for a parcel and manage its delivery.

“It will be exactly like in Nova Poshta,” he said, adding that customers are currently unable to manage their parcels.

In addition, another innovation is currently in the works, and by the end of the summer, every postmanwill have a “three-in-one” mini-computer—a POS terminal. This will allow customers to pay by card.

Such terminals can operate for up to 8 hours without electricity. They will also be equipped with power banks.

“Why is this important? Because in the city, generators at least pay for themselves… If you look at the countryside, a generator alone will consume 15,000 hryvnia per month in fuel. They consume more than the branch’s profits,” he explains.

Therefore, Ukrposhta will be able to provide services in digital format.

“These mini computers have already been purchased, we are just finalizing the software,” Smilyansky added.

Earlier [Komersant] wrote that Ukrposhta was embroiled in a scandal over its Valentine’s Day advertisement.
