What is known about the Booker Prize

The Booker Prize (the official name of the prize is The Man Booker Prize) is the most prestigious literary award, which has been presented annually in the UK since 1969.

For 55 years, the Booker Prize has become the leading award in the field of literature. The prize is awarded to an author living in a Commonwealth country or Ireland for a novel written in English.

The very nomination for the Booker Prize is a testament to the undoubted merits of a book; it is not for nothing that it is called the book Oscar. The purpose of the prize is not only to name the best book of the year, but also to crown merit, to raise the status of the entrant in the eyes of the public and to increase sales of the book.
