ChatGPT went down immediately after the launch of new features

On Tuesday, June 10, many users around the world faced problems accessing ChatGPT by OpenAI. The service began to malfunction in the morning, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to Downdetector, the difficulties began around 10 a.m. Kyiv time and affected users in different parts of the world. People are complaining about the error message “Something went wrong” that appears when they try to enter the chat room or receive a response from the system.
OpenAI has officially acknowledged the problems on its status page, noting an increase in the number of errors and delays. In addition to ChatGPT, the problems also affected the Sora video generator and the company’s API.
By the afternoon, the company classified the situation with ChatGPT as a “partial failure.” The impact of the problems varies – some users are unable to log in at all, others notice slower performance and longer response times, and some continue to use the service without interruption.
OpenAI continues to investigate the causes of the problems, but has not yet reported either the source of the problem or the estimated timeframe for the full restoration of the platform.
As of 14:00 Kyiv time, ChatGPT is still down for many users.

Couldn’t handle the load?
It is noteworthy that the service failure occurred a few days after OpenAI announced new features for ChatGPT – now artificial intelligence can work directly with popular work applications. These include Gmail and Outlook email clients, Google Drive cloud storage, Teams corporate messenger, and other similar platforms.
This functionality has become available exclusively to owners of paid accounts – Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise and the educational version of Edu. Users of the free version are left without it. It is also worth noting that European users will not be able to take advantage of the new features due to local legislation restrictions.
The developers emphasize the importance of privacy: ChatGPT will be able to access the user’s personal information only after his or her explicit consent. Companies using corporate tariffs will get additional integrations with SharePoint, Dropbox, and Box business platforms.
Separately, OpenAI is testing a new Record Mode tool for Mac users. This feature will allow you to record online meetings in one click, automatically convert audio to text, and create notes or a list of tasks based on the conversation.
It is likely that this stream of complex functions was the load that the chat could not withstand.
