Electricity imports in Ukraine increased by 2.5 times to 360 thousand MWh in October 2025.

This is reported by the industry publication ExPro.

Hungary continues to have the largest share, 51%. Poland is in second place with a share of 22%.

At the end of October, Ukraine resumed cross-border trade with Slovakia after almost two months of interruption due to repairs on the Velke Kapušany-Mukachevo line. Imports from Slovakia amounted to 7.6 thousand MWh over the last 3 days of the month, while exports to Slovakia amounted to 1.8 thousand MWh during this period.

In general, electricity imports in October increased in all directions. Compared to October 2024, electricity imports to Ukraine have doubled.

At the same time, electricity exports in October 2025 fell by 85% due to increased shelling of energy infrastructure. In total, 90.8 thousand MWh of electricity was exported to the EU and Moldova during the month.

Supplies decreased in all directions except Slovakia. Hungary also accounts for the largest share, 43%.

As a reminder, in the fall, Russia began to shell Ukraine’s energy infrastructure more and more often to weaken our economy and create a humanitarian crisis among the Ukrainian population. Such attacks disrupt the country’s energy sector every time, so the state needs to constantly restore it and look for resources to do so. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy explains that it is possible to reduce these losses with air defense.
