Railroad damaged in Kyiv due to night attack by Russian Federation: trains are delayed
4 July 2025 06:52
On the night of July 4, Russian troops launched another missile and drone attack on Kyiv, damaging the capital’s railroad infrastructure. Due to the damage, a number of trains are running on rerouted routes, and passengers face delays of up to two hours. This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia on its Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
What is known about the situation
After the nighttime shelling, damage was recorded to railway facilities within Kyiv.
Westbound passenger trains are temporarily taking a detour through Vyshneve and Darnytsia, causing delays.
In the meantime, backup diesel locomotives will be used to bring trains within the capital when traffic resumes on the Sviatoshyn-Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi section.

The city train is partially operational
Kyiv City Express currently runs only on the northern semi-circuit:
- Sviatoshyn – Pochayna – Darnytsia – in both directions.
However, due to the combination of schedules with passenger trains, additional deviations from the schedule are possible.
Restoration is already underway
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that restoration work is ongoing. To ensure transportation within Kyiv, the company uses reserve diesel locomotives that will bring cars to Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station as soon as it becomes technically possible.
“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience. The railroad team is working to restore full traffic as soon as possible,” Ukrzaliznytsia said.
Passengers are advised to follow the schedule updates on the official channels of Ukrzaliznytsia and arrive at the stations with plenty of time to spare, as changes in train traffic may persist throughout the day on July 4.
