Another deception of the Kremlin: Putin declares a truce, while Russian troops storm the Ukrainian Armed Forces

8 May 15:43

the “ceremonial ceasefire” initiated by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, as expected, turned out to be a farce. This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga on the social network X, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“I have just spoken with the military command, which provided information on the situation at the front. As expected, Putin’s ‘ceremonial truce’ turned out to be a farce. According to our military data, despite Putin’s statements, Russian troops continue to attack along the entire front line,” he wrote.

Sibiga said that from midnight to noon, the Russians violated the ceasefire 734 times:

  • 63 assaults, of which 23 are still ongoing.
  • 586 attacks, including 464 with the use of heavy weapons;
  • 176 attacks with the use of drones;
  • 10 air strikes involving 16 guided aerial bombs.

The minister assured that Ukraine is responding to the attacks and sharing information about Russia’s violations of the ceasefire with Western partners and international organizations.

“We will not allow Putin to deceive anyone when he does not even keep his own word. Ukraine remains ready for at least a 30-day full ceasefire and confidence-building measures that will enable peace negotiations and a real path to a just and sustainable peace,” Sibiga summarized.

Also, the Russian occupiers continue to attack Ukrainian civilians despite the so-called “truce”. At about 11:10 a.m. in Kupiansk, the enemy dropped an FPV drone on a GAZ car, said Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

“A 49-year-old employee of a civilian utility company in Kupiansk city community was wounded as a result of the enemy’s attack. The victim was taken to the hospital to receive qualified medical care,” noted Syniehubov.

Other details of the Russian attack are unknown.

Details are being investigated.

It is worth noting that during the “last truce” there were practically no changes at the front: regrouping of Russian troops was observed in the northern directions, but there was no calm in the Pokrovske, Toretske, Kramatorsk and Novopavlivka directions.

The Kremlin’s main idea for the “truce” is to “safely” hold a large parade in Moscow on May 9 to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Earlier, during a conversation with journalists, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine cannot guarantee other countries the safety of their representatives during their planned trips to Moscow for the May 9 parade, as the Russian side can independently take any actions against the guests and shift the blame for this to Ukraine, and the Ukrainian side, in turn, cannot be responsible for what is happening in Russia.
