Fourth week without a decline: cucumbers in Ukraine break price records
10 October 15:09
The cool weather in most of Ukraine has provoked a significant reduction in the supply of cucumbers on the market, and, as a result, a further rapid rise in prices in this segment.
This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Prices are also supported by the lack of competition from imports and very high demand from local wholesalers and retailers.

According to the project’s daily monitoring, this week’s cucumber samples in local greenhouses have decreased by about five times compared to last week. And today, producers are selling these products mainly in small wholesale due to a shortage of vegetables on the market. On average, prices for these products increased by 66% over the week, and today they are on sale in the range of 65-80 UAH/kg ($1.57-1.93/kg).

According to experts, this situation on the Ukrainian cucumber market may lead to the fact that importers will start supplying this product from the foreign market next week. In this case, the price of cucumber from local greenhouses may stop growing under pressure from cheaper imported products.
It is worth noting that today the price in this segment on the domestic market is already 27% higher on average than in the same period last year.
