Will there be power outages on April 4? Ukrenergo has issued a statement
4 April 01:48
On Saturday, April 4, 2026, Ukraine does not plan to implement electricity consumption restrictions for the general public. This was reported by Ukrenergo in its evening update, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
At the same time, energy officials are urging citizens to use electricity sparingly during the evening hours—from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Will there be power outage schedules on April 4?
As of the evening of April 3, Ukrenergo does not forecast hourly or other scheduled power outages for April 4. This means that residential consumers should receive electricity without scheduled restrictions, provided the situation in the power grid does not change drastically.
This does not rule out local emergency power outages, network repairs, or localized technical interruptions in specific regions or settlements.
Thus, regional power companies separately remind that scheduled maintenance work and emergency outages may occur regardless of the overall power grid status.
Why Ukrenergo is still asking people to conserve energy
Although no power rationing schedules are being implemented for April 4, energy officials are urging consumers not to overload the grid during evening peak hours. The most critical period is from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, when the load on the grid traditionally spikes due to the simultaneous use of lighting, household appliances, and electric heating in individual households.
Therefore, even in the absence of rolling blackouts, Ukrenergo asks consumers to limit the use of high-power electrical appliances during this specific time frame. This is standard practice for stabilizing the system: when consumers shift part of the load to other hours, the risk of overload decreases.
Why the issue of power outages remains relevant
The issue of power remains sensitive, as emergency outages were reported in certain regions of Ukraine as recently as April 3.
The current situation appears stable, but not enough for energy officials to completely lift warnings about the risks of peak loads. That is why the plan for April 4 is as follows: there will be no scheduled power outages, but energy conservation in the evening is still necessary.
What this means for Ukrainians
For most residential consumers, the news means that no centralized planned power outages are expected on April 4. At the same time, two things should be kept in mind. First, local outages or repairs in specific networks are still possible. Second, whether new restrictions can be avoided in the future depends in part on consumers’ behavior during the evening peak.
The best practical advice for April 4 is to shift the use of energy-intensive appliances from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM to another time, if possible. This applies to water heaters, washing machines, electric stoves, space heaters, and other high-power appliances. This approach is in line with the recommendations of energy experts.
