Officials in Ukraine may have their salaries cut: what is known

Ukrainian MPs have submitted a proposal to the state budget for 2026 to limit the level of officials’ salaries to a limit of UAH 80,000 per month.
This was reported by MP, head of the parliament’s Finance Committee Danylo Hetmantsev, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Hetmantsev noted that during the war, the burden of financing defense needs should be fairly distributed, and that is why the initiative to limit the level of officials’ salaries appeared.
“To this end, together with Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, we submitted a proposal to the State Budget for 2026 to limit the level of officials’ salaries to a limit of UAH 80,000 per month,” the MP said in a statement.
He noted that this restriction would not affect those involved “in the implementation of measures to ensure national security and defense.”
Hetmantsev called on his parliamentary colleagues to join this initiative.
