Kharkiv regional council deputy keeps tens of kilos of undeclared gold

Viktor Subbotin, a member of the Kharkiv Regional Council and CEO of the state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Energy Machines JSC, failed to declare a number of assets, including dozens of kilograms of gold bullion. This became known from a certificate issued by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, which is at the disposal of Kommersant Ukrayinsky
According to the results of a full inspection of the official, the NAPC found signs of a crime under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional false declaration of funds in the amount of UAH 5 million 728 thousand 800.
The inspection revealed that the regional council deputy kept 45 kilograms of gold in bullion, but had supporting documents for only 25.89713 kg. The documents for 19.10287 kg of gold are allegedly lost.
Viktor Subbotin also failed to declare his wife’s bank account in a foreign bank. According to the audit, Olena Subbotina has USD 4 million 200 thousand 704 on her accounts. And UAH 27 million 510 thousand 393.
The highest penalty under this article of the Criminal Code is two years’ imprisonment, but fines and restriction of liberty are also provided for.
"Komersant Ukrainian" wrote that only a month ago, the National Police closed a ten-year criminal case involving Viktor Subbotin.
